I left South Africa in 1999 - supposedly to travel the world. Met up with Kim Masters in London and we stayed there to get work and get some funds together. Nevertheless I got a job ( computer programmer ) and fell for the boss. The rest is history as they say. I am still in the UK today. Jason and I got married at Ingwelala - South Africa in 2003 - you cant beat a wedding in the South African bushveld.
The following year my mum passed away and my son Corbin ( now almost 15 and 6 ft 2 tall) was born. Followed 2 years later by his sister Aimee ( now 12 and a mini me ). I have spent the past few years being a mum , wife and working in IT which has kept me on my toes.
We live in a small village called Streatley ( it only has 2 roads and a pub ) near Barton-le-clay/Luton in Bedfordshire UK. Its only 5 minutes to the nearest town but you feel like you are in the countryside. We work from home and write software for various companies around the world in our company group.
As for the travel plans - well we do travel but its more family vacations than solo adventures. Hopefully once the kids are finished school ( which is rapidly approaching) and are off to university then Jason and I might get some free time to travel some more.
I see Kim Harris ( Masters ) often - she lives 20 minutes away and as both of us dont have family over here it shows how important school friends can be - a second family.
I have now been a diabetic for 35 years and I am still going strong. Apart from the odd niggle ( mainly from growing older ) nothing as changed and I still feel 21. Hope to make it to a reunion some day but for now thank goodness for technology so we can all keep in touch.
Hi Tracy You are so lucky to have Kim nearby. Great to have someone who can relate to your childhood history and drink rooibos tea with. Someone really needs to invent a teleportation thingymajig.
