Lisa Constable...

Well last time we caught up we'd just left Switzerland, having quit our jobs and planning to do a spot of overland travelling and then see what the future held in store for us living back in SA.

After a week of recovery from the 20th reunion, Micke and started preparations for our trip and left Dec 2009 on an awesome year and a half of travels around Southern Africa. Eventually, the money came to an end and we had to get back to reality, deciding give the Cape a go. We settled in Kommetjie, not quite the buzzing city life-style we were used to after Zurich but very lekker nevertheless, and I went from the finance industry into fishing 😋.

One of the highlights of living on the other side of the world (as far as Capetonians are concerned) was the easy access to Noordhoek Night Market which Jaquie Simpson set up - so awesome to see a classmate achieve something so impactful and special!🥂

After a year and a half so, we got drawn behind the boerie curtain, moving up to White River, and I went from fishing to flying. I now work in aviation, where we lease aircraft and crew to airlines in Africa and the Middle East. I do a lot of travelling, and wish I could say I spend my time flitting between London, NY and Sydney but for my sins, it's to places like Chad, Iraq, Sudan (surprisingly lovely), Gabon, Mozambique (always fun) and Comoros (unsurprisingly shit). I have my private pilot's license now, and absolutely love love love flying, but have a long long way to go before I'd feel comfortable giving any of you a flip.

Micke and I are still happily unmarried (to coin your phrase Cath Coe 😎), and I think it's around 16 years now. We were footloose and fancy free until Anne Rankin decided she no longer loved dogs and dispatched Holly and Elvis to live with us, (at least it was the hounds and not the kids 😋), and then we were 4.

Our group of schools friends, Pendi, White, Brown, Annie, Dudu and I (aka the Travelling Clams) still try and get together and spend some time away once every couple of years. The same old shenanigans, typically ending up with gin fuelled pyramid attempts...I suppose we'll eventually grow out of this once we start having hip replacements etc, altho I'm sure Browny will remain fit as a fiddle and still be able to make the summit!!

We've done all the 40ths, now going to 50ths and dear god, even 60ths...but I have to say, life is bloody fabulous...

I think that's it in a nutshell!

.

Cant wait to see you all
